Vernon Avenue
Steffani Jemison and Amiel Melnick
2007-2009
Single-channel video and video installation
Length variable

Vernon Avenue is single-channel video and installation that considers the mythologies that inform cinematic representations of urban communities.

Through a series of documentary and improvised encounters featuring our friends and neighbors, we constructed and deconstructed familiar scenes of Brooklyn community life, blurring the distinction between realistic and fantastic images.
